Etsy Thursday: The Great Gatsby Wedding

The Great Gatsby Inspired Wedding

This week’s Etsy Thursday post is full of beautiful inspiration for a 1920’s, art deco, vintage, Great Gatsby styled wedding. I may be a little late in sharing inspiration for The Great Gatsby since there has been a signifcant buzz in the media for some time, however the timing is perfect for me personally because I just saw the movie over the weekend! I LOVED it and on a side note I thought Leonardo DiCaprio looked amazing – in my opinion he hasn’t looked this hot since his starring role in the Titanic! I recall being a huge fan of the book in high school and I probably should have read it again before seeing the movie, but that didn’t stop me from loving the acting, imagery, wardrobe/styling, storyline, whimsical nature, and the wonderful flashback to the popular 20’s – I am a fan! If you haven’t seen the movie yet – go and see it! If you have seen it, what did you think?

I can’t believe how many lovely pages of Etsy wedding finds are available to search through, so many that I had to just pick a few of my favorites from the first 15 pages (I wasn’t even able to get through all the pages). The Great Gatsby inspirational wedding finds below really reminded me of the images that I saw in the movie. I really hope you enjoy this week’s Etsy Thursday post!

Etsy Thursday: Pearls & Lace Inspired Wedding

Pearls & Lace Wedding Inspiration

A couple of months ago, I predicted one of the hot wedding trends for 2013 would be pearls! This week’s Etsy wedding finds will feature a combination of pearls and lace. In my opinion, gone are the days of the use of 80’s tulle and grandma’s doilies, instead here is a fresh, vintage yet modern display of lace and pearl – beautiful combinations of these accents in 2013!  Linen and chiffon fabrics along with rhinestones, crystals, silver, and gold would also go great with a lace and pearl themed wedding.

My goal with this post was to show the versatility of lace and pearls and show that you can take a vintage and “old” style and give it a modern makeover. Lace & pearls are truly timeless and with some well thought out decor elements you could really WOW your guests and pull off a gorgeous wedding!

I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU:  What did you think of the combination of pearl and lace? What else could you see combining with these two elements?

Etsy Thursday: Bicycle Themed Wedding

Bicycle Themed Wedding Inspiration

I can’t begin to tell you how many amazingly creative and cute bicycle-themed wedding invitations I found on Etsy. So many that I had to cut myself off so that this post is 50 photos long and I decided that I will have to do a second post on bicycle-themed wedding inspiration. I love the vintage feel of the bicycle theme, the colors, and the font. I have put together a unique collection of Etsy wedding finds below that should provide inspiration for anyone considering a bicycle theme – you can incorporate a rustic, vintage-style, or modern bicycle theme.

Real Wedding: Gaby Ruiz & Jorge Marquez

I was hired by Gaby & Jorge to coordinate their wedding and make sure that all the details that this DIY bride and groom wanted were carried out seamlessly on their wedding day! I would definitely say that this was the most challenging wedding that I have coordinated simply because when they hired me, less than 2 months from their wedding date, they only had the venue secured. I assisted this couple in locating and securing their vendors, provided timelines and checklists to stay on schedule, listened to their vision of the wedding and provided additional inspiration, expertise, and ideas on how to best bring their wishes to reality on their wedding day within the short time frame and tight budget we had to work with. In order to make this the dream wedding that my clients wanted,  a lot of time and effort went into planning and coordinating this wedding prior to the day of, and I am happy to share that on September 2, 2012, this lovely couple shared wedding vows and expressed their love for each other in front of 170 of their family and friends at the Red Horse Barn!

This outdoor wedding turned out beautifully and I received many amazing compliments from the venue, vendors, guests, and the bride and groom regarding how lovely it turned out and how perfectly the day went! (Actually the venue and one of the resident vendors said that out of all the hundreds of weddings they had witnessed at the venue, this one was the best coordinated and planned, and that I was a pleasure to work with.Yay!) I can easily smile along with these two love birds because I was able to plan and coordinate a beautiful wedding for 170 people in less than 6 weeks!  Please take a look at this shabby-chic vintage-styled outdoor wedding held in Huntington Beach, CA.

The release of the movie “The Great Gatsby” will bring the roaring 1920s back into fashion, especially as the vintage trend continues to be hot. The decade will be particularly seen in wedding fashion with flapper styles, just below the knee dresses, art deco patterns and stylish headpieces.
