Today officially kicks off the start of my new DIY FRIDAY’s series where I will be sharing amazing DIY wedding projects and tutorials that I find across the web and on Pinterest. This series will include DIY ideas for weddings and a variety of events, DIY advice, resources, vendors, and tools, DIY tutorials & projects, DIY printables, and anything else DIY I can find and think you will love!

This week’s DIY wedding projects are a reflection of a few of my favorite things – I hope you enjoy this collection!

In my ebook, 663 Must-Have Wedding Ideas, I end with a section called, appropriately, finishing touches. Those unique little details you can add to your wedding ceremony and reception that will really leave your guests in awe! Below is just a small excerpt from my ebook:

♥ Set up a bench in front of a scenic area at your reception, like the wedding cake display, and have a friend or relative take guests photos (like a prom photo kind of idea). Include the photo in your thank you notes.

♥ Use a camera cell phone to help far away friends and relatives experience your wedding in near real-time. Take a picture of the two of you leaving the church in your limo, post to your Facebook page or e-mail the photo and then call the recipient. You could use Skype as well.

♥ A yard of beaded trim is not expensive, usually about $2 and can be found in the notions section of any fabric or craft store. It’s an inexpensive way to dress up tablecloths, bridesmaids’ dresses, gloves, wraps, even place cards.

♥ To keep kids busy at an outdoor wedding, put them behind a lemonade stand to serve guests non-alcoholic drinks.

♥ It’s expensive (under $1,000), but as your guests exit the church, how cool would it be to hire a small plane to fly over head pulling a banner that reads, “Congratulations to John & Stephanie, Who Just Got Married!”

♥ Have your musicians continue playing outside after the ceremony to keep the celebration going, until all guests have departed the church.

♥ Create life-size photo cutouts of the bride and groom and put them at the door of the reception hall. Makes for great photographs.

♥ For an outdoor wedding, set up intimate conversation areas by using small tent cabanas that can house 8 to 10 guests.

♥ Give each guest a roll of paper streamers, ribbons and balloons as they leave the church and encourage them to quickly decorate their cars.

♥ Be sure to have some snacks available (nothing that can spill or stain clothes) in the limousine for your wedding party, particularly when you go off to take your photos.

♥ Be sure to honor both sets of parents and serve them the first piece of wedding cake.

♥ Ask your guests to do something specific for the wedding. Maybe you want them all to wear white, or all the women to wear hats, or everyone to hold a candle during the service.

With Valentines Day only a week away, it was so necessary for me to search Etsy for some loveable, red, heart-inspired wedding finds! Valentines Day, after Christmas, is the most celebrated holiday. Loved ones and couples typically exchange cards, gifts, candy, flowers, and anything else that symbolizes their love for the other. What an amazing day for any couple – struck by cupid – to choose to exchange their LOVE vows in front of their loved ones! Sounds so romantic and beautiful! When it comes to floral designs incorporated in wedding invitations, Behold Designz prides themself on their floral invitation suites. This Etsy shop is owned by two sisters – one that is all right-brain, an artist whose garden offers the most beautiful of flowers to be found in Australia, which she loves to paint in her sunny studio. The other takes all of her sister’s whimsical floral designs and transforms them into romantic wedding stationery. The beauty in this is that all of their original designs are fully customizable to complement any bride’s color scheme. Here is a sample of their work:

5 Inspiring Ways to Walk Down the Aisle

Walking down the aisle is the bride’s big moment, and there are so many fresh ways to make it a jaw dropper. Here are 5 ideas to consider that will have your guests oohing and aweing!

IDEA #1: When ready to walk down the aisle, have your greeters open the church doors and then have each bridesmaid enter the church and step to the side, equal number on each side. Then the bride enters the church and her bridesmaids follow behind her up the aisle, in pairs.

IDEA #2: Have a group of four flower girls. Position two in front of the bride — one directly to your left and one directly to your right, and two behind you on your left and right, all within a two foot distance. Then, walk down the aisle as a group.

IDEA #3: Have a strolling violinist walk a few feet in front, playing and leading the bride down the aisle. When the violinist reaches the front of the church he can just move off to the side.

IDEA #4. Have the bride walk alone from the entrance of the church to the start of the aisle so she gets a solo moment. At the start of the aisle her father is waiting for her, hands her bouquet, offers his arm and walks her down the aisle (you could do the same with the groomsmen and bridesmaids).

IDEA #5. The bride and groom walking back up the aisle is also one of the best parts of a wedding. Prolong it by stopping every three feet or so for a dramatic kiss, allowing guests to get more than just a glimpse of you as well as a take a photo. Or the first time you stop the groom kisses the bride on the hand, the next time he kisses her on the cheek, the final time dips her for a kiss.
